Hybrid Muay Thai Domination

By | News & Events | No Comments

Another fantastic night for the Hybrid Muay Thai team! Under the expert leadership of head coach Dave Wilkins, supported by Marcel, Allan, Kristina and Mike, our lads brought skill and style to the show and left with three wins!

The show itself was great and we had tons of support there for the lads! Thanks to everyone for supporting your fighters! Special thanks go out to the coaching team. These guys are so dedicated to bringing on the team, and deserve so much praise!

First up was Will, stepping in the ring like a young Heracles. His opponent was experienced and took an early lead with some cheeky sweeps. Will’s determination and skill showed through though with a superior clinch game and some stunning knees. Great exchanges went Wills way, landing strike after strike. A great work rate and solid finish lead to him getting his hand raised! A great win!!

Next up, Kris stalked into the ring, the epitome of an apex predator. Supported by a huge number of fans, he took the early lead, swarming his opponent with strike after strike. His opponent Ash fought bravely, but was overwhelmed by the controlled aggression and skill of our lad. To the rapturous roars of the crowd, Kris put knee after knee, elbow after elbow into his stalwart opponent, and ended the fight with a unanimous decision. 2 for 2 so far!!

Rob needs no introduction. Stepping up to fight for the Super Lightweight Area Title, Rob was the picture of confidence. Both fighters started well, with some great trades letting the crowd know they were about to witness something truly special. Rob is a monster though, and his incredible cardio and ridiculous work rate started to show through. A series of strong exchanges left Rob’s opponent on the back foot, and, scenting blood, Rob swept in with a beautiful series of flying knees and solid elbows. A solid body blow later and Rob was crowned victor. Still undefeated and no doubt he ran home afterwards like the machine he is!!

Massive thanks to the coaches, without whom we wouldn’t have such a strong, well knit team. Another year down, another series of devastating victories!!

On the 2nd December three of our lads are fighting in a local show, representing us all against the best and brightest the South West have to offer. Bulls On Parade takes place at Pryzm, just across the road from the gym, and should be great fun.

The plan is to take an army of us along and show the other clubs what we’ve got.

Tickets are £20, and can be bought from the fighters or from the club, and for anyone who is interested we are gonna be going out to celebrate Christmas and the 3 wins afterwards.

Mike makes Worlds!

By | News & Events | No Comments

Following on from last week’s great results, we have more Muay Thai success to celebrate. Michael Bradbury went to Newcastle today for the National Muay Thai championships. Inspired by meeting his idol John Wayne Parr last weekend, Mike saw off stiff competition, winning the final in spectacular fashion with a KO knee to the head!

This performance wowed the selection committee, earning him a place in the U.K team for 2018’s IMFA World Championships in Mexico!!

Mike, his coaching team, and all his training partners have worked mega hard to get where he is now, and we at Hybrid couldn’t be more proud!

Rob kills it again!

By | News & Events | No Comments

On a show that featured legends of the sport Liam Harrison fighting for a world title, Sitmonchai and Jazzy Parr, we saw hybrid’s Rob Osborne represent us in Birmingham.
Fighting a lad from the reaper gym in the Midlands, Rob took a heavy neck kick that wobbled him early on. There wasn’t much between them going into the 4th round when Rob showed amazing resilience and heart, pulling ahead on points through scoring well. This was repeated in the 5th where he was relentless, driving in knees from the clinch.

Rob was declared the winner against a very strong, experienced opponent.
This lad is still undefeated!

Elbowfest Cardiff

Another awesome show, another great showing by our guys!

Mike showed exactly what he is made of once again with a phenomenal win against a strong opponent, winning fight of the night once again. The Welsh crowd was left begging for more, and we’ve been inundated with requests to have him fight there again!

Rob showed controlled aggression against a more experienced opponent from a good gym. Lovely elbows and great knees meant that his opponent didn’t know what hit him. It’s looking more and more like Rob is a champion in the making.

Jed started out well, connecting with a variety of head and low kicks. Pressing his opponent, a win looked certain, before he took an illegal jump knee to the head and the bout was declared a no-contest.

Hero of the night was last-minute step-up Will Edney. Taking the fight on just under 24 hours notice, Will fought like a lion, narrowly missing out on getting his hand raised. His opponent was experienced and was expecting the fight, but Will still held him to a decision. Imagine what he could do with more preparation!

The Team Works.
